What happens
Documents tabled before Parliament's Agriculture Committee showed a supplier delivered substandard fertiliser to the National Cereals and Produce Board for over a year undetected. After intelligence about the product, the board sampled it in over 59 stores across the country, leading to suspension of the product's permits. A Kenya Bureau of Standards letter flagged at least 17 areas where the substandard fertiliser was stocked and sold to farmers, and all samples failed the standard tests. The company repackaged the substandard product with the standardization mark issued by the Kenya Bureau of Standards.
