What happens
Only 60.1% of ICE and Intercity trains arrived on time in 2025, down from 62.5% in 2024. Under Deutsche Bahn's definition a train counts as late from a delay of six minutes. In 2015 the on-time rate was still 74.4%. Deutsche Bahn often cites construction sites on the ageing network and overloaded long-distance hubs as reasons for delays.
