What happens
After 56 to 74 cm of snow in February 2026, the City of St. John's said sidewalks would take longer than five days and asked residents not to call in requests. It clears more than 1,400 lane-km of road and 193 km of sidewalk. The province is recruiting more than 450 seasonal operators to restore 24-hour plowing on its busiest highways.
