What happens
About 120 people were driven out of their tents when police and fire department staff moved through the encampment along Saskatoon's Avenue K. The city said only two people accepted the support that was offered during the removal. The mayor said there has been confusion in the community about what space is available and what options are available. The Salvation Army Crossroads has a 90-bed shelter that is at capacity daily and is only offered to men. A report published this week says the number of homeless people in Saskatoon has increased by 30 per cent since 2024.
