What happens
Spain's Ministry of Consumer Affairs ordered Airbnb to block 65,935 tourist accommodation listings that broke regional advertising rules. From 1 July 2025, landlords letting tourist or seasonal rentals had to register on the Single Rental Registry or remove their listings. On the registration deadline, 215,438 applications had been received out of 368,295 homes identified as short-term or temporary lets. From August, Airbnb was to give the ministry monthly reports on active listings, including national and regional registration codes.
