What happens
Among truck drivers in ATRI's 2025 survey, truck parking was the second most critical industry issue; overall it ranked fourth. A study cited in the report found drivers need 2.4 million parking spots suitable for rest across the US highway system, but only 697,000 are available. Drivers report often spending more than an hour looking for space, and nationwide there is one parking space for every 11 trucks. Seventy-five percent of Washington's truck drivers report problems finding safe parking at least once a week.
