The problem, in one line
What happens
The CFIA confirmed it found non-compliant levels of chemical residues in Driscoll's berries in Canada in inspections between 2022 and 2024. Those inspections did not lead to recalls, or a corrective action was implemented and the investigations were closed. The CFIA said that where inspections do not lead to recalls or corrective action is taken, notices are generally not made public. A Montreal shopper said he would like to know where norms are exceeded, so it is his choice whether to take the chance. A food safety expert warned that making such notices public could hurt producers who have safe products.
