The West Bengal government will provide ₹1.8 lakh aid for fully damaged homes and ₹90,000 for partially affected houses in flood-hit Malda district. The Chief Minister announced compensation of Rs 241.65 crore for 24,595 people affected by floods and river erosion in Malda. Compensation for damaged houses was released directly into the bank accounts of affected people from Manikchak, Ratua-I and English Bazar blocks. IIT-Kanpur has been tasked with preparing a detailed project report for a permanent flood solution in Malda. Proposals have been sent to the Centre seeking ₹3,300 crore projects for river erosion control in Malda and Murshidabad; projects worth ₹500 crore have been cleared.
