What happens
Barki Chhapar village in Simdega district, under the Pithra Gram Panchayat, lacks mobile network connectivity. A mobile tower stands in the panchayat area but its coverage does not reach Barki Chhapar, leaving residents unable to make basic phone calls or use the internet, the panchayat's mukhiya said. A community activist said a message sent to the hockey captain at night is seen only the next morning, after she moves towards an area that gets some signal. Simdega is a hilly area where network connectivity is a problem in several places, and a committee chaired by the Deputy Commissioner looks into network issues, including those concerning BSNL. The Deputy Commissioner said the administration had taken up the village's connectivity with the Central government, which has jurisdiction over BSNL services, multiple times.
