What happens
Mexico City's water agency (Sacmex) ran a programme of tandeo water cuts during 2025 covering 300 colonias in 10 boroughs, continuing through December. Although the situation improved with the 2025 rainy season, authorities kept the tandeo cuts in place. Residents of Polanco blocked a major road junction, saying they had been paying for water trucks for months without a response from Sacmex. Water supply by tandeo was put in place in 284 colonias in 10 boroughs in 2025, according to the city's official gazette.
