What happens
Five centres run by a non-profit in Toronto have been closed since Monday after the two sides failed to negotiate a new collective agreement. The union said its members were locked out of their workplaces 15 minutes before a strike deadline. Hundreds of families have been left scrambling to arrange alternative child care. A parent said the lockout means work video calls from home while his 14-month-old runs around in the background.
