What happens
The Cuddalore Collector urged farmers to insure Samba paddy under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, given the possibility of reduced rainfall this year owing to El Nino and climate change. The premium has been fixed at ₹584 per acre, and the last date for enrolment is November 16, 2026. Insured farmers are eligible for compensation equivalent to 25% of the sum insured if deficient rainfall and drought prevent sowing across more than 75% of the area in villages notified for Samba paddy coverage. Applicants must submit a proposal form, the Chitta adangal issued by the Village Administrative Officer, an Aadhaar-linked bank passbook with e-KYC completed, and a copy of the Aadhaar card.
