What happens
About 179 trekkers and expedition members were stranded at high-altitude routes and expedition sites in Uttarkashi and Bageshwar before the bad weather alert reached them. Forty trekkers and expedition members stranded at Kalindi Pass Base and Auden's Col Base were evacuated on September 28, 2026; six foreign nationals were among those reported stranded. Eight helicopters were deployed and a helicopter ambulance kept on standby for the evacuation. More than 112 roads were blocked after continuous rain, and falling boulders halted the Kedarnath yatra.
