What happens
A transnational racket that recruited unemployed locals and pushed them into cyber scam operations abroad surfaced during searches by the J&K Police's State Investigation Agency (SIA) in south Kashmir's Kulgam. The SIA says local facilitators, in coordination with foreign-based handlers, lured vulnerable and unemployed youth with offers of employment abroad. The victims were allegedly moved through Thailand to the Myawaddy region of Myanmar, where they were exploited and allegedly compelled to take part in cyber scam operations. The searches seized mobile phones, identity-related documents, PAN cards, a passport and job agreements. The J&K Police's special cell has sought cooperation from national agencies and international partners to investigate the network.
